Somali Cardiac Society

The Somali Cardiac Society (SCS) is Somalia's professional cardiovascular organisation, bringing together adult and paediatric cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, physicians, medical officers and other cardiovascular healthcare professionals committed to improving heart and circulatory health across all stages of life

Founded in 2024, SCS works to strengthen cardiovascular care across Somalia through professional education, research, clinical standards, public awareness, advocacy and collaboration. We support healthcare professionals with continuing medical education and practical training, promote evidence-based cardiovascular practice, and encourage research that responds to Somalia's health priorities

We also work with government institutions, hospitals, universities, professional associations, civil-society organisations and international partners to advance cardiovascular prevention, improve referral pathways and expand equitable access to safe, affordable and high-quality care

Through this work, SCS aims to be a strong and trusted professional institution that helps reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease and supports better outcomes for people and communities throughout Somalia
